about
"Start" is saucy AF. SUREFIRE's newest single, our first with upstart producer, Matt Rosemeier, is a pop-rock missile coming straight for your ear holes. Driving low end with Paramore-esque power combined with rhythmic guitars that blend juicy tones spanning from Van Halen to The 1975. The lead vocals are equal parts dangerous and sweet, singing of a fast love that burned out too quickly. Supported by layers of background elements straight from Harmony City, USA.
This song will mark EIGHT STRAIGHT YEARS of releasing music as SUREFIRE, but this round feels different for us. Start is the first of two singles we have planned in early 2024. These songs are new all around: first two songs fully written as a five piece and our first time working with Producer extraordinaire Matt Rosemeier. Start reflects the sonic energy, the danger, the whimsical flow, the low-end pop, and the high-flying vocal power that we’ve always been after. We are looking up from here! 2024 Let’s GO!
lyrics
Met at the top of the world
We just didn’t know it yet
Watched you say goodbye
With the flick of a cigarette
We were on the fast track runaway train
On separate cars that were going separate ways
No time to choose
So tell me it’s true
When I
Drive home in the middle of the night
You’re thinking it too
Inside
Wishing you were holding me tight
And I want to love you love you love you
Like our lives never pulled us apart
Give our love one chance to….start
Sat at the back of the bar
And watched the night fly by
You were hiding something behind those eyes
And so was I
We were in the fast lane, getaway car
Ran out of road so we didn’t get too far
A whole life to lose
So tell me it’s true
When I
Drive home in the middle of the night
You’re thinking it too
Inside
Wishing you were holding me tight
And I want to love you love you love you
Like our lives never pulled us apart
Give our love one chance to….start
You’ve been on my mind, oh oh forever
I can’t seem to let it go
You’ve been on my mind, oh oh forever
And on and on it goes
You’ve been on my mind, oh oh forever
I can’t seem to let it go
You’ve been on my mind, oh oh forever
And on and on and on
So tell me it’s true
When I
Drive home in the middle of the night
You’re thinking it too
Inside
Wishing you were holding me tight
And I want to love you love you love you
Like our lives never pulled us apart
Give our love one chance
Give our love one chance
Give our love one chance to start
